Production Internship:

The Production Intern will work closely with our artistic and programming staff to facilitate the development process for the MADLab plays, and plan and assemble the program for the 2024 MADLab First Look New Reading Series.

The Producing Intern will work closely with Artistic Director Darin Anthony and MADLab Producer Dana Schwartz in the completion of all project-related tasks.

Specific tasks and responsibilities for MADLab will include:

– MADLab presentation planning and timeline creation

– Communication with MADLab playwrights, directors and actors to gather necessary programming information related to production and marketing

– Research on all programmed projects and artists

– Assembling a production plan for each reading

– Assembling a marketing and communications plan for each project

– Participate in MADLab as a key member of the implementation team.

– The Production Intern will also assist with closing tasks and documentation for both productions.


Additional Internship Additional Duties and Activities:

– Updating our audience database or CRM.- Updating our professional guest outreach list.- Fielding day-to-day emails from audience members and prospective artists.Additionally, common office tasks will be required, including:- Checking daily email (address to be assigned to intern for internal communications).- Attending weekly staff meetings and weeklyMADLab/Production planning meetings.

Internship Learning Objectives:

Through the course of this internship, the student will:

1) Observe and participate in a production process for both a staged reading series, and a full theatre production.

2) Learn strategies for project-specific marketing, including original content, social media, print materials, and paid advertising.

3) Gain experience in artist communication and project planning.

4) Become familiar with theatre production practices and their systems of support.

5) How to interface with donors at our productions.


Projected start date is TBD, but will be roughly July 1 running through late Oct.

Compensation:  All interns will be paid $17.28 for all hours worked
